Ukraine: Tchèques Bukasa lends his voice to Congolese journalism at the Lviv Media Forum 2026

As Ukraine continues to grapple with the aftermath of war, the city of Lviv hosted a major international gathering of journalists, researchers, media experts, and civil society actors from around the world.

This platform for exchange, focused on the challenges of information, the fight against disinformation, and the defense of democratic values, provided a framework for high-level discussions on the future of media in times of crisis. Among the participants was Tchèques Bukasa, who represented the Democratic Republic of Congo at this forum, held in a particularly sensitive international context.

A defining experience for the Congolese journalist

In an interview with ACTU30, Tchèques Bukasa described his participation as an “exceptional experience” in his professional career. The Congolese journalist states that he was deeply moved by the spirit of resilience and solidarity observed within Ukrainian society despite the ongoing effects of the war.

According to him, the Ukrainian authorities and the population remain mobilized in defense of the national interest, demonstrating strong unity in the face of the security, social, and media challenges posed by the conflict.

A forthcoming account of Ukrainian realities

Known for his analysis and investigative work, Tchèques Bukasa also announced the upcoming publication of a detailed article about his stay in Ukraine. This account will focus on the lessons learned from this international meeting, as well as discussions on disinformation, freedom of the press, and the protection of democracy in contemporary societies.

Through this project, the journalist intends to share with the Congolese public an in-depth analysis of the realities observed on the ground in Ukraine, as well as the mechanisms put in place to preserve free and credible journalism during times of crisis.

A Prominent Figure in Congolese Media

Over the years, Tchèques Bukasa has established himself as one of the rising stars of the media landscape in the Democratic Republic of Congo thanks to his involvement with congoprofond.net, an independent online media outlet founded in 2018. His work, often focused on investigation and analysis, has earned him growing recognition both nationally and internationally.

His participation in the Lviv Media Forum 2026 particularly caught the attention of the editors of Tempête des Tropiques, who wanted to highlight the career and commitment of this Congolese media professional.

An active member of several professional organizations, including the Union of Francophone Press (UPF), the Pan-African Network of Journalists (RPJ), and Journalists in Action (JA Asbl), Tchèques Bukasa belongs to a generation of journalists dedicated to professional rigor, fact-checking, and on-the-ground investigation. Through his participation in the Lviv Media Forum 2026, the Congolese journalist also intends to contribute to bridging the gap between African media and major international platforms for reflecting on contemporary information challenges. This initiative helps strengthen the visibility and credibility of Congolese journalism on the world stage.
