Summary of the security situation on the front lines in the provinces of North and South Kivu (March 30 – April 7, 2025)

1) Province of North Kivu

  • Monday, March 31, 2025: In Walikale, at the Kakuku village, loyalist forces managed to neutralize a Rwandan operator in possession of a secure communication device, the Thales PRC-152. This device is used to connect Rwanda to the command of their operations deployed on Congolese soil, both in Goma and Bukavu. It also allows for controlling the communications of our loyalist forces engaged on the front lines. According to local sources, the ceasefire declared by the terrorists M23/RDF/AFC was merely a favorable moment for them to strengthen their positions. During this period, they took advantage of the situation to install anti-aircraft jamming systems to evade FARDC airstrikes. Unfortunately, the surgical airstrikes from our loyalist CH-4 drones successfully destroyed all these installations, forcing the M23/RDF/AFC enemies to flee Walikale Centre.
  • Tuesday, April 1, 2025: The troika of SAMIRDC troops (Burundi, Tanzania, and South Africa) has called into question its withdrawal agreement from the city of Goma signed with the M23/RDF/AFC terrorists on March 29, 2025. These sub-regional forces declared that they would not leave Goma until the M23/RDF/AFC rebels comply with Resolution 2773 and the decisions made during the joint SADC and EAC summit.
  • Tuesday, April 1, 2025: In Walikale Centre, the Wazalendo neutralized 7 M23 rebels at their position located on the hill where the administrative office of the territory is situated. These combats have reduced M23 patrols in the center, and their security efforts were concentrated toward the south: Kangambili, Nyabangi, and the Belgian city. However, these routes are frequently used by the Wazalendo, who may launch incursions at any moment.
  • Wednesday, April 2, 2025: Several local sources in Walikale reported the nocturnal withdrawal of M23/RDF/AFC enemies from Walikale Centre to an unknown destination.

2) Province of South Kivu

  • March 30, 2025: In Bukavu, in the Nyamugo neighborhood, young people bravely expressed their discontent in the industrial street following the death of one of their peers, killed by multiple bullets fired at his head by M23/RDF/AFC elements. The body of the deceased was deposited in Camp Saio, where the QG of these terrorists is located.
  • Same date: In the territory of Idjwi, reliable local sources reported the flight of M23/RDF elements following repeated deaths of their colleagues due to bites from fetish snakes.
  • Monday, March 31, 2025: In Bukavu, 5 M23/RDF/AFC elements were neutralized by the Wazalendo, who made a swift incursion into Camp TV before retreating. Such guerrilla attacks are already instilling constant and permanent fear among the M23/RDF/AFC enemies.
  • Tuesday, April 1, 2025: On the Bukavu-Nyangezi axis, near the village of Toyota, jeeps transporting M23 reinforcements to Nyangezi fell into an ambush set by the Wazalendo. Outcome: 30 rebels killed, all Land Cruiser jeeps burned, and their weapons recovered by loyalist forces.
  • Same date: The Wazalendo managed to recover the city of Nyangezi/Munya commercial center (25 km from Bukavu) after violent clashes with M23/RDF/AFC enemies, except for a hill where the rebels established their HQ, deemed an insurmountable barrier to conquering the city of Bukavu.
  • Wednesday, April 2, 2025: In the Uvira and Fizi highlands and plateaus, in the villages of Lusuku and Wamlema, the Wazalendo violently confronted armed groups Twirwaneho and Red Tabara, allies of the M23/RDF/AFC. They succeeded in halting their advance in this area and were forced to retreat toward Minembwe. Outcome: 17 rebels neutralized and several captured.
