The Democratic Republic of Congo has suspended a six-month, $5 million contract it recently signed with a new lobbying and public relations firm founded by Karen Giorno, a former 2016 Trump campaign aide, and Milo Yiannopoulos, a former Breitbart journalist, Daniel and Robbie report.
The DRC government stated in an announcement that it is suspending the contract with Earhart Turner to prioritize “direct” relations with the Trump administration through “official and authorized channels,” according to a copy of the letter. It was reported Thursday that the firm had landed the lucrative contract as the DRC seeks to secure a mining deal with the Trump administration to help repel Rwandan-backed rebels.
The work Earhart Turner was to perform for Congo included lobbying activities with Congress, the executive branch, and other government agencies, strategic communication and public affairs assistance, and political research and analysis, according to a copy of the contract filed with the Justice Department. Yiannopoulos and Earhart did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
