DR Congo: Sandrine Bashale, Wife of Singer Blaise Bula, Dies in Kinshasa

KINSHASA — The Congolese music industry is in mourning following the death of Sandrine Bashale Bula, wife of singer Blaise Bula. She passed away in Kinshasa on Sunday, October 25, 2026, following an illness, according to the Congolese Press Agency (ACP).

She had been hospitalized at the Kinshasa Medical Center after previously receiving treatment in Europe. Her husband confirmed the sad news, acknowledging the efforts made by medical professionals to save her life.

Beyond being his wife, Sandrine Bashale was, according to Blaise Bula, a trusted adviser in his musical career and a pillar of his family life. Their relationship began in the early 1990s and lasted for more than three decades. The couple had four children.

A leading figure of the fourth generation of Congolese musicians and a former member of Wenge Musica 4×4, Blaise Bula, nicknamed “Engineer Selebu,” has lost a longtime companion whose support played an important role in his artistic journey.

Her passing is a painful blow to the singer and his children. Messages of sympathy are beginning to reflect the solidarity of the cultural community with the grieving family.
