M23 in Difficulty and Surrounded: Rwanda Sends Reinforcements and Support to Bukavu for Kavumu

Since this morning, the locality of Kavumu has been in the hands of the Wazalendo. The security situation in the province of South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has deteriorated again in recent hours.

Violent clashes are opposing the M23 armed group, supported by Rwanda, to Wazalendo fighters in several agglomerations of South Kivu.Reinforcement ShipmentsTo counter the Wazalendo threat and avoid a total loss of South Kivu, the M23 has decided to send reinforcements towards Kavumu. Military sources report that a 5th M23 boat, transporting soldiers and military equipment, has just left the city of Bukavu.

These reinforcements aim to support the elements already present in Kavumu, as well as those who find themselves surrounded on the Kavumu-Bukavu axis.Rwanda’s SupportIn parallel, Rwanda has intensified its logistical support to the M23.

A fast boat, loaded with ammunition, was seen en route to the city of Bukavu. This operation aims to provide additional weapons and resources to the M23 forces, in difficulty against the Wazalendo.
