DRC: Fils Mukoko Arrested at His Residence in Lemba? Reports Remain Unconfirmed

KINSHASA — Reports alleging that Fils Mukoko has been arrested at his residence in the Lemba municipality of Kinshasa are currently circulating. However, at this stage, no sufficiently reliable evidence has been found to confirm the reported arrest.

The reports come amid heightened tensions surrounding the political figure, whose recent statements circulated on social media have triggered a series of reactions from Congolese institutions.

Judicial Investigation Already Announced

On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the Minister of State and Minister of Justice, Guillaume Ngefa Atondoko Andali, instructed the Prosecutor General at the Court of Cassation to open a judicial investigation into statements attributed to Fils Mukoko.

In a video widely shared on social media, he allegedly referred to the distribution of weapons in public places and made threatening remarks directed at Western nationals living in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The government condemned the statements, while the Higher Council for Broadcasting and Communication (CSAC) announced measures against him, including a temporary ban on speaking in the media and on social media platforms.

Removed from His Position at RASKIN

The controversy has also had administrative consequences. Kinshasa Governor Daniel Bumba dismissed Fils Mukoko from his position as Deputy Director General in charge of technical matters at the Kinshasa Sanitation Authority (RASKIN), according to several Congolese media outlets.

These decisions come as judicial authorities are expected to examine the facts and determine any potential liability in accordance with the law.

Reported Arrest Still Awaits Confirmation

If the reports of an arrest at his residence in Lemba are confirmed, this would mark another development in a case that is increasingly taking on judicial and political significance.

For now, no official statement or sufficiently reliable independent source consulted has confirmed that Fils Mukoko was arrested at his home.

The newsroom therefore remains cautious: the reported arrest of Fils Mukoko remains unconfirmed. Any further developments must be established through verifiable sources.
