AS V.Club President Amadou Diaby Resigns Kinshasa, April 19, 2025 (ACP)

A bombshell has dropped in Kinshasa football! Amadou Diaby, the president of the management committee of the emblematic AS V.Club of Kinshasa, has surprisingly announced his resignation with immediate effect. It was during a press conference held this Friday that the now former strongman of the “Green and Blacks” made his announcement.

Official Statement by Amadou Diaby
“I am announcing difficult and heavy news, that of my resignation from the head of the V.Club management committee, with immediate effect,” declared Amadou Diaby, visibly emotional.

This abrupt departure is not an isolated event. Amadou Diaby specified that the Sporting Director, Franco Torchia, as well as the Administrative Director, Mr. Ndiaye, are also leaving with him. As for the Congolese manager, Distel Zola, it will be up to him to decide on the future of his career within the club.

This resignation comes at a crucial time for AS V.Club, which has qualified for the playoffs of the national Illicocash Ligue 1 championship of Linafoot. The club will therefore have to approach this decisive phase without its president at the helm.

The reasons for this radical decision seem to be rooted in persistent internal tensions. The “Moscovites” reportedly accuse their president of a lack of transparency regarding the contract linking the team to the Turkish company Milvest, as well as a lack of collaboration with other members of the committee.

Despite several meetings held between the club’s supreme council and Amadou Diaby, the crisis could not be resolved. Faced with this impasse, an extraordinary general assembly has been convened for this

Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Boboto cultural center in Gombe. The objective of this meeting is to find a solution to the crisis before V.Club enters the second phase of the national championship.

It is in this tense context that Amadou Diaby preferred to throw in the towel, presumably to avoid potential incidents during this assembly. Already, names are circulating for his succession. D. Mangaya, presented as close to the current political regime, and Diomi Ndongala, former president of the club, are mentioned as potential successors.
Kinshasa football holds its breath, while AS V.Club, a pillar of the Congolese championship, finds itself at a turning point in its history, on the eve of a crucial competition. The outcome of Saturday’s general assembly will be decisive for the future of the club.
