AS Vita Club lost to CS Don Bosco 2-1 on Monday, May 4, at the Mazembe Stadium in Kamalondo, Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga).
This match was part of the second round of the playoffs for the DRC’s national football championship (LINAFOOT).
In an electric atmosphere, the Salesians of Lubumbashi caused an upset by defeating the Black Dolphins of Kinshasa.
After a goalless first half, CS Don Bosco opened the scoring in the 67th minute thanks to Molindo Mbala. Elie Mpoyo then added a second goal in the 81st minute, giving the Lubumbashi side a comfortable lead.
Spurred into action, AS Vita Club responded and reduced the deficit in the 84th minute through Éliezer Nyembua, reigniting the suspense at the end of the match, but ultimately failing to equalize.
Thanks to this victory, CS Don Bosco earned their first three points and clearly demonstrated their ambitions in these playoffs. Conversely, AS Vita Club suffered their second consecutive defeat and will need to quickly regroup for the remainder of the competition.
