Biography of Carine Nahayo Katumbi

Carine Nahayo was born on September 7, 1974 in Belgium. She is the daughter of Julien Nahayo, a Burundian diplomat who held several important positions, including ambassador to the BENELUX and embassy counselor in Paris.

Her father, of Tutsi ethnicity, was accused in 1995 of being involved in a political group responsible for attacks against Deogratias Nkinahamira, a former elected deputy of FRODEBU (Hutu). In 2015, Julien Nahayo was appointed a member of the Solidarity and Monitoring Committee for the Burundian crisis, where he called on the international community to oppose the third term of former Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Carine Nahayo, his daughter, holds an MBA from IHC Lausanne, trained in the best business schools. She is the founder of the ‘Katumbi’ foundation, with whom she is married and mother of 4 children: Nissim, Champion, Moses, Ishmael, and Jonathan Katumbi. Her eldest son, Nissim, married Coralie Nawezi in 2017. In total, Moïse Katumbi has 9 children with several women, none of whom are Congolese.
